Outgoing President Joe Biden has announced the recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America’s highest civilian honor, to be awarded in a ceremony at the White House this Saturday. The 19 honorees span cultural icons, philanthropists, and political figures, recognized for their “extraordinary contributions to their country and the world,” according to the White House.

- Dame Anna Wintour
Renowned Vogue editor-in-chief since 1988, Wintour has shaped the global fashion industry and supported charitable causes, raising over $20 million for AIDS research. She also fundraised for UK arts organizations during funding cuts in 2022. - Bono (Paul David Hewson)
The U2 frontman and humanitarian is recognized for his campaigns against poverty and support for those living with HIV/AIDS. Bono has previously received France’s highest cultural honor and an honorary knighthood. - George Soros
